Vision Catalogue

I don't think I read socially.

I understand what it means, but it's not something I actively participate in.

I have an account in the Vision catalogue, but I only use it to search for books and place holds, or look up due dates for books I have on my library card. In order to keep track of books I've read and enjoyed, as well as books that I want to read in future, I use Goodreads, which I've only recently joined. Even though I use these "social reading" sites, however, I don't usually like to write about what I've read or comment on what others read.

I did create a list on Vision at one point, but it is a private list of books that I might like to read sometime. For this week's Thing, I created a public list (Fun Picture Books!) which includes some of my favourite picture books. (Library Lil by Suzanne Williams always makes me feel super cool.)
I also made a comment on one of William Joyce's books, The Man in the Moon, which has beautiful illustrations - as do all of his works.

I think I managed to follow someone, though it took me a while to figure out how. Thank you, Vision, for your little help box.

I'll keep practicing.

Twittering

Sometimes I tweet.

But let's be honest here. Not a lot.

I do have a Twitter account that I use to follow F1 news, mostly, as well as other programmes and people that I like. I'm more of a passive Twitter user, I guess.

One of my favourite Twitter accounts to follow is The QI Elves, which is the Twitter account for the UK show QI (stands for quite interesting), hosted by Stephen Fry. The show is about all sorts of random, interesting facts about everything. Most of the time, it's hilarious.

He laughs until he cries, people. CRIES. I love it.

In terms of library Twitter accounts, I follow Fake Library Stats, which is always fun.

About Me

Hello!

My name is Lynn and I am a brand-spankin', shiny new librarian.

I've created this blog as part of NB 23 and I'm pleasantly surprised that it was so easy. I thought it would be complicated. I've never blogged before, so this is all completely new. I'm going to assume I'm doing this right.

Things I like: reading, knitting, drinking tea, and wearing cardigans (they're just so convenient!). Sounds like a lot of librarians you know, right? Right. I'm also a huge Harry Potter nerd, but that's probably not surprising to anyone.
What does suprise some people is that I also enjoy watching FormulaOne racing. I was introduced to the sport over a year ago and I've really enjoyed following the F1 action, on and off the tracks. I'm still learning, but that's really part of the fun.

I'm excited to learn new and helpful things during the next weeks. Here we go!
